We have for sale an absolutely gorgeous French vintage box on legs which would be ideal for

jewellery, sewing, knick knacks a lovely box which can be used anywhere in the home.

It is based on the old French dough boxes/bins/troughs used in the 19th and early 20th century.

Dough Boxes use to be a staple in homes for proofing bread dough.

Flour, water and yeast would be put in the dough box. You would mix the ingredients right in the box.

The dough would be kneaded several times,

punched down and left to rise sometimes overnight.

It really is in a brilliant condition for its age. One of the screws has been replaced on the back of the hinge,

but that was a very long time ago and it was replaced by a "jap screw" not a new type of screw.

I have looked all over the internet and have not seen another one.

It is possible made from fruit wood buy with two arch shaped legs with a stretcher inbetween.

The hinges are in good working order and so is the clasp.
