Love Potions!
Children (and grown-ups too) will love using the mortar and pestle to grind and mix the dried herbs and flowers to create their own wonderful smelling love potions.
The simple ancient act of grinding herbs and spices is so centering. Using a mortar and pestle connects us with the most ancient traditions of our ancestors, keepers of the hearth and home. Children enjoy experimenting buy with the different scent combinations and textures. This work will help build focus, concentration, fine motor skills, and hand strength in preparation for writing. In this set I have included calming lavender and chamomile, rosemary, hibiscus and mint!

Each set includes the wooden mortar, pestle, five small wooden condiment bowls, small wooden spoon, 1/4 cup of each herb with reference cards. You will also receive two muslin sachet bags with embroidered lavender flowers and a heart shaped tray! I have also added a laminated card with the following mantra, which I think is so beautiful!

I am often asked what should be done with the mixtures after children are done with the work. We like to add the herbs to play dough or with other natural materials to make potpourri. You can also add the mixture into your sensory bins for a truly multi sensory experience!
