Very rare vintage advertising piece - this lid was produced by the Pratts Factory in or around 1846 -1849. Produced from a watercolour by J.Austin the origin of the design is from "China Illustrated by T. Allom and from sketches made by Captain Stoddart.
Felix Pratt saw the possibilities and started producing multi-coloured pot lids and bases as containers for products such as bear's grease, gentleman's relish, food-stuffs and cosmetics including rouge.
This pot is 2" tall with just under a 4" diameter.
All of my vintage items may be imperfect due to their age. I attempt to point out any flaws via the pictures and description. Both the lid and bottom of the pot have chips, crazing and patina; which only adds to the character. This one displays beautifully with the color and crazing. Please review all photos and send any questions prior to purchase as all sales are final.
