Look at the detail on this fantastic old metal radiator or vent cover. Made of solid metal, this grate has developed a lovely patina. The metal is in great condition, with no breaks, no repairs, no welds, and no problems. Some of the paint is flaking, and there is rust. I like how the panel looks like a Church window, with a buy great quatrefoil design. This is probably from the 1880 to 1920 period. Imagine this as a bathroom medicine cabinet door, or imagine this with a candle lit behind - wow! Make a shadow box and use this as a spooky Halloween prop. Or just mount this on a wall and admire the texture and contrasting details! It measures 12" by about 7 7/8" and about 2" deep. If you intend to use this as a vent grate, it needs an opening measuring about 10 1/8" by 6". The louver lever is functional and smooth, but one of the three louvers on the back is missing. Someone inserted a loose piece of tin inside the grate, probably to block air intake, and this piece is easily removed. It weighs a hefty 5 1/2 pounds.
