Raku buy ceramic Obvara Slavic technique, beige and brown vase born in fire, vessel for a bouquet of dry flowers, OOAK, natural color of earth
A ceramic vase made by hand on a potter's wheel.
A ceramic buy vase made by hand on a potter's wheel from light beige clay with fireclay, fired in a Raku gas kiln. The vasel was heated in an oven to a temperature of about 900 degrees Celsius and immersed in an obvara (a mixture of yeast sour soup, flour, oatmeal and bran). These natural substances reflect on the body creating unique patterns in the colors and shades of natural earth.
This obvara dipping in ancient medieval eastern Europe was often practiced to seal a vessel. The vase is unglazed, it does not reach the clay sinter, so I do not recommend pouring water into it.
However, if you want to put fresh flowers in it, to be sure, I recommend putting a glass vessel inside and then pour water and add fresh flowers.
The vase is intended for dry bouquets of flowers, branches and other elements. It is a beautiful interior decoration for a home, office or gallery.
After firing and drying, it was polished with wax, which gave a satin gloss.
In my studio, I make various decorative and utility items ceramic items. I invite you to visit my store on etsy :)
White clay fired at 900 degree in Raku kiln.
Measurements 10.5 cm tall, 13.5cm diameter.
This vase is without glaze and the water absorbability of the clay is quite high as the clay in this Raku firing does not reach the temperature of the sintered clay. Only suitable for dry bouquets.

Obvara;) Slavic Raku, an ancient Slavic technique of sealing vessels. Now I mainly use it for decoration. It's a mixture for bread (lots of water, flour, yeast) and additionally oatmeal.
