This is an intricately woven basket with a lid. It is called a Ukhamba or a Grass Zulu Beer Basket. The weave is so tight, it is said to be water-tight and can take up to a month to make! This particular basket is woven in three colors - natural brown, a dusty pink and dark brown. The triangle pattern is said to be masculine (you think about that). It has a matching lid with a little nub handle.
