Unusual Small buy Art Deco FAUX Inlaid Wood TIN Box, Antique Metal Handkerchief Tin, c 1920s 1930s, Excelda Hanky Box
Very interesting small Art Deco handkerchief tin designed to look like.
Very interesting small Art Deco handkerchief tin, designed to look like an inlaid wood box with really nice Art Deco shapes. Stands on four little rounded feet. Noticeable wear, including rust on bottom, see below. But I've never seen one before, and the artwork is kind of amazing! Once held hankies from Excelda. Circa 1920s, 1930s. Lid is hinged. Again, NOT a wood box, but a metal box designed to look like one. About 6” by 4.25” by 1.5” tall.
CONDITION:
Some small areas of wear, small scratches and scuffs, handling marks and normal vintage soiling, small and minor dents and dings, some rust, etc.
•WEAR ON LID GIVES A RATHER SOILED APPEARANCE, MORE NOTICEABLE IN RIGHT LIGHT. Some noticeable small worn areas on right side, and some tiny white paint specks here and there.
•Base also tends to look soiled, there are tiny white paint specks here, too. More wear and soiling on both ends, including larger white paint marks on buy one end.
•Not many dents, but seems a little knocked around for some reason.
•Darkening patina inside, some minor early rust.
•BOTTOM VERY RUSTY.
•Hinges well attached, move freely.
•Open/closes fine, but lid can easily be pushed down to close too far.
The tin is empty.
Not for food use. Any props not included.
Colors can vary across devices, so the colors and brightness should be considered an approximation.
