Fabulous 1950s cats eye reading frames in faux tortoiseshell w/ studs, rhinestones, folding buy reading glasses NOS

buy Gals, these frames are incredible in every way. Original 1950s eyeglass frames, they are foldable reading glasses, and are NOS and unused. In a classic browns faux tortoiseshell plastic base, they are half glasses, worn low on the nose, with wickedly pointed cats eye shaping; and theyre absolutely covered in tiny gold studs and glistening aurora rhinestones, perfectly set around each eye and then crowded over the nose, into each corner and fizzing along each front arm. Outrageous. With hinges across the nose and in the centre of each arm, they fold up into a tidy little bundle, so that you can take your vintage glamour absolutely everywhere with you. Measurements:

width: 5" between standard side hinges, measured looking down on frames, from arm to arm.

arm length: 5 1/2" from front edge of arm to back tip.

*moderate width to arms- they fit and have a bit of grip on my medium sized head.*


Labels: no labels found at all. Purchased from a group that was from an optician's estate, they are NOS and unused. (if you look closely, you will see that the gaps below the cats eye points are not symmetrical- this is so that you know that the arm that joins the front higher sits 'on top' when they are folded. To fold, fold the bridge over nose first, then arms at classic hinges, then fold the middle of each arm. )

Condition: These frames are in fair to good vintage unused condition. NO cracks or damage to frames, all hinges are in good working order, NO fade or fogginess to colour. There are some rhinestones missing, in the clusters at cats eye ends and on arms, see the close up pic provided; fortunately the bridge over nose and borders around each eye are nicely complete, so this is not as obvious when worn as it is in the very close up pics, and they can also easily be replaced. There is also some warping, with right arm sitting higher when on a surface, and some lean downwards to the left when worn; I do not specialise in frames, and with these being intricately designed I did not attempt to correct the lean, but expect it will be simple for a vintage optician since it is not prohibitively extreme. Do ask any questions you may have, fantastic frames ready to adore.
