Original 1961 movie poster: "Rires et frissons de papa"
This film is Robert Youngson's third montage film, after "The great era" and "When laughter was king", which happily resumes, mixing "laughter and chills", many extracts from films of the blessed era of mute cinema. In this montage film, we find Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel. The title can be translated by "Daddy's laughs and shivers".
The poster's dimensions are 40x50cm. Indeed, since the 1960s and the replacement of lithography by offset printing, the "small format" of cinema posters has gone from 40x60 to 40x54 cm approximately. This is explained by the fact that lithography required having a different plate per format (one for the large 120x160 posters, one for the small 40x60). With the offset process, only buy one plate is used for these two formats, and when reducing the format of 120x160 cm in a homothetic way (respecting the proportions), a poster of 40x54 cm approximately is obtained. Nevertheless, french movie poster collectors continue to call them "40x60 posters".
