This is the perfect gift for the free spirit in your life, the one who does yoga, who takes care of her body, who lives in the pursuit of Harmony. She's going to love this in her bedroom, she'll appreciate the good buy vibes to hang above her bed.

Wax Art is set on a 8x8" cradled wood panel and can easily be hung on 1-2 small nails.

Image transferring onto wax is quite a lengthy process, not to mention dangerous. I can't tell you how many times I have cut myself with my X-ACTO knife!

Without over explaining or dulling the magic of the image transfer process, here is a quick explanation of how these paintings are made:

I start out by layering pure natural beeswax onto cradled wood panels(this one was painted lavender first).
I love turning on my crockpot and dipping my paintbrush into the hot melted wax.
I spend a good amount of time scraping the wax until it is really thin and as even and as smooth as I can get it. Some pieces look cool with small divots in the wax because it gives it a rustic look.

This wall hanging has many scrapes and divots, especially around the outer petals, and black texture/lace images, this makes it look vintage. One Heart was carved out....this is the missing piece of the heart.

Once I choose my design, I start cutting out small, to downright TINY pieces of paper from old magazines. I love that I get to take something that was meant to be thrown in the trash, and turn it into a beautiful, unique piece of art.
In order to get the ink transferred from the magazine page, I have to flip it backwards and sand it with a very fine grit sand paper. I hit the wax with my heat gun (also very dangerous) to let the wax absorb the pigments.
Once it cools down, I moisten the entire piece with water and rub the wax until all of the unwanted paper is taken off, to reveal the beautiful image!
This process is very tricky, and I don't even know how the image is going to turn out until the very last moment of creation.
I take a small tool and scrape the wax around each individual piece to give it more detail and depth. The wax painting is then sealed with a special acrylic wax sealer to give it shine, brilliance, and to protect the wax.

Please be gentle with the wax, even though it is sealed it can still be scraped if you are not being gentle with it.

****Each Encaustic Wax Painting that I make will not be reproduced. I do not take custom orders for these pieces due to their nature. If you buy one of these pieces for your home, I guarantee no one else will have one like it! People won't walk into your home and proclaim that they “saw the same art at Target last week”, nope, not going to happen.****

Anything purchased from my shop will be shipped safely, promptly, and will be insured through USPS, so you can be worry free about your order!
