“Mema's Garden” 8”x10” fine art prints, Kellie Krueger 2020. Created from a high-quality scan of an original acrylic on wood plaque piece I painted for myself to commemorate the death of my Mema (Grandma). These prints come already framed in beautiful black oval frames, which compliment the shape of the original piece. The prints are done on gorgeous, thick 300 gsm cotton rag paper, in archival ink. This paper has an almost velvety feel, and allows for beautiful depth in the dark and light contrast. Your print will stand the test of time.
My Mema (that's Texan/Southern for Grandma) passed away on June 24, 2018. I painted this piece in her honor in buy 2020, and it's very dear to my heart. As a little girl, I saw a huge pink peony in her backyard, and asked her if it was the “biggest rose in the world!?” She laughed and told me it was a peony, and they've been my absolute favorite flower ever since. One time a HUGE black spider crawled out of another flower bush in Mema's yard (yes I screamed, even though I do love spiders), so that's why I included the pretty little shiny spider and her web. The sound of windchimes and the taste of tea brewed in the sun reminds me of her. Maternal grandmothers are so important and I feel that when they pass, we inherit their wisdom, trauma, and memories.
I hope you enjoy this piece! Painted and printed with Love in Los Angeles, CA.
