These lovely earrings feature large matched slabs of natural purple moss agate. The attractively shaped stones display lacy blue-green "moss" in a lavender gray matrix. The soft lavender is shaded and more purple than most stones of this type. The densely packed, mossy inclusions show clearly at the surface of the stones, in a mix of dark and light green, blue, and buy white which reminds me of seaweed. The gemstones are well-accented with sparkly, faceted Austrian crystal in an unusual shade of blue which goes well with the moss. They are neatly wrapped with sterling silver, and the ear wires have ball accents and extra length in the back for security. These earrings provide a unique color combination with enough contrast to really stand out as a beautiful natural statement.

++ These stones were expertly cut as a matching pair. They are unique and more valuable than unmatched stones.
++ Moss agate is a semi-precious variety of quartz that is actually chalcedony, not agate. The translucent matrix contains mineral inclusions (chlorite, hornblende, etc.) that form filaments and mossy patterns in the stone. Purple moss agate is a unique variety found in Indonesia.
