Well preserved, and in good condition. There are two barely noticeable cracks on the neck. There are no chips. Pure clay. Without glaze. Jug after restoration. It was cleaned and washed from a layer of old, hardened oil, with which the jug was covered by the previous owners. It has a silver-black color. Look at the photo, please.

Black-smoked ceramics are one of the types of ceramics fired using a special technology - without air access. It is also called: black-glazed, black, gray, smoky, smoked ceramics.
It arose as an alternative to the traditions of ancient ceramics. Already at the beginning of our era, it had its centers on the territory of Ukraine and modern European states. In Ukraine, XVIII-XIX centuries. it competed with traditional irrigated ceramics.
Black ceramics are made from special clay buy on a potter's wheel. Next, the products are smoothed with a special stone that comes from the same clay deposit; they also "write" ornaments on them. After firing, the polished surface has a dark silver color, and the unpolished surface has a black color.
In Ukraine, one of the most famous crafts of black-smoked ceramics is considered to be Havaretska ceramics, which are made in the village of Havarechchyny, in the Lviv region.
