Product code: Imari-Style Hexagon Temple Jar with Floral Designs, Bird Motifs and Blue and White Decor buy - Gold Trim - 12 1/2" Tall

This beautiful hexagon-shaped Imari-style decorative jar has six panels on both the jar and the lid. They alternate between gorgeous multicolor floral designs and bird motifs in shades of purple, orange, green, yellow, pink and blue, as well as blue and white decor. It also has colorful borders at the top of the jar and the edge of the lid that match one of the panels. Plus, gold accents add an elegant touch on all of the panels except the blue and white ones, as well as on the top knob and the borders. With its bold designs, this jar will add color and charm to any room and blend right in with chinoiserie blue and white decor. Although it is a perfect shelf or tabletop decoration, it can also be used as a catchall for items you may want to hide away or store. The interior of this jar is glazed - the only surfaces that are not glazed are the bottom rim of the lid and the edges on the bottom of the jar. (The books, trinket box and plant in the first picture are not included.)

I believe this Imari-style temple jar was made in Japan, but I am not an expert on Japanese porcelain marks and have not been able to verify the origin of the mark on the bottom of this jar. As a result, I am not positive of its origin (see photo #9).

Approximate measurements:

12 1/2" tall to top of lid
9" tall without lid
7 3/4" diameter at widest point
3 lb. 1.6 oz. weight unpackaged

This pretty jar is in good condition, with no cracks, chips or repairs that I can see. On the blue and white panels, a little bit of the blue paint is thin or missing (zoom in on the lower two frames in photo #10) and the gold trim is worn in a few places, especially on the lid and a few places on the panels (zoom in on the top right frame in photo #10). Also, as is typical of Asian porcelain of its era, there are a few tiny dark spots in the white part of the design, some small bump and ridges in the mold (zoom in to see slight ridges inside the jar in the top left frame of photo #10). It has a few very minor scratches and a little bit of wear and discoloration on the bottom rim where it sat on surfaces over the years (see photo #9). Please zoom in and look closely at all of the photos, as they are considered a part of the description.
