Antique 1900s Lamb of God Blessed Sacrament Medal

Dating back to 1862, this antique mandorla-shaped medal, with Gothic aesthetic elements, depicts the Crucifixion of our Lord on the front. Jesus is depicted high on the cross flanked by celestial bodies of the sun and the moon and the Greek letters Alpha and Omega. Around the perimeter are the words: "O LAMB OF GOD THAT TAKEST AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD."

On the verso is a cross with fleur-de-lis at the tips superimposed by the image of a chalice with a sacred host hovering above it. Around the perimeter are the words: "CONFRATERNITY OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT."

The medal is crafted in bronze and measures 1 1/4 inches wide x 1 7/8" tall. Unsigned.
