This is a beautiful designer rounded triangle cabochon with dark purple to black linear patterns running on this cabochon of the semi-precious gemstone Tiffany Stone Opal. The soft background of light purple is the building block of this great display with dark purple to black lines like a artist's splat on the canvas and a little light beige to white adding some splash to this cabochon. The colors interact with each other forming an excellent capture of character on this piece. This cabochon is ready for the designers creative piece of jewelry offering this rare form of stone found only in Utah, USA. The top is domed and the bottom is flat with a flat edge around the stone ready for setting, wrapping or smithing. The cabochon is polished on all sides in preparation for any open-backed designs. This would be a great setting for formal or casual wear.

This cabochon measures 34 mm x 27 mm x 6 mm. Measurements are approximate and are measured from the longest or widest points; the thickness is measured in the middle. The weight is 6.8 grams (34.0 carats). Tiffany Stone is a member of the opal family and has a hardness of 4 to 7.

Tiffany Stone is also called Bertrandite Opal, Opal Fluorite, Opalite and Ice Cream Opal, which is an Opalized Fluorite (or Opalite). Mixtures of minerals common in the stones can be clear Quartz, Bertrandite, Opal, Manganese Oxide and purple Fluorite. It is found in only one place in the world at the Brush Wellman Beryllium Mine near Delta, Utah, USA, which has been closed off to collecting making this stone even more difficult to acquire unless from old collections. Tiffany Stone is one of the birthstones for October.
