This is an 1800s Victorian photograph album with an uncommonly tall and thin size. The antique album is empty with no photos and ready for you to fill with your own. The cover was originally a beige or tan colored velvet that has worn thin over years of loving use. The front cover has cream colored celluloid flowers across the center and the top and bottom right corners. The ones in the center are all there but parts of the corner ones are missing. This closes with a beautiful ornate metal clasp that is patent dated June 6, 82 and the clasp is attached firmly and latches and unlatches with ease.
The interior has 16 gold gilded cardboard pages that will buy hold a total of 32 photos, the photo slots measure approximately 4" X 5 1/2". Surprisingly for the age of this most of the pages are still attached to the binding and they are all still firmly attached together. The pages are are a light blue that looks like clouds with gold stars and crescent moons. Most of the photo slots are torn at the bottom where the original pictures were removed and some of thin paper inside the photo slots is missing but all the pages are still very usable.
The album measures 16" high by 7 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" thick and weighs about 5 1/2 pounds before packing materials.
If you are looking for new and pristine this is not for you but if you cherish time loved and worn items that still have years of life in them you will love this. Please zoom on the photos and feel free to ask any questions. This would be great for your own family photos or wedding photos and would be a perfect photography prop or a portfolio for a photographer to display their style.
