This is a gorgeous & unique Limoges vanity set. I do not know the age of it. I know it is vintage but do not know enough about it to call it antique. It is a gorgeous blue pattern , large tray with footed bowl for which ladies used to collect their hair in Victorian times. For our modern day purposes would be perfect for cotton puffs, q tips etc etc. So many uses ! Very hand tray & bowl. I love this set. I have had it for years but just do not have room for it now.

Tray is marked with the number 700 & Bavaria & another name I cannot make out.

container is marked with the Limoges , France

Very romantic & just so many uses. Love the pattern.

Marked Limoges , France. Please see photos for markings.

Condition is excellent for age. Please note that there are 2 small chips at the rim of the container. The lid has 1 chip on the inside of the lid. The tray is in perfect condition with no chips.

Tray measures 13" in length & 9" in width at widest point.

Covered container measures 4" at diameter & 3" in height

PLEASE NOTE: If you would like any additional photos , I will be happy to take them , just let me know.

Although rare today, the hair receiver was a common fixture on the dressing tables of women from Victorian times to the early decades of the 20th century. Its purpose was to save hair culled from the hairbrush and comb, which were used vigorously on a daily basis. The hair could then be stuffed into pincushions or pillows. One of the most curious items to be found on a Victorian lady's dressing table was a hair receiver. This was a small bowl with a hole in the lid. It was often part of a dressing table set buy, with a matching powder box.
