I've never shared sketches or paintings I've created right after a notable figure has passed, I couldn't bear the thought of my personal coping mechanism being mistaken for timely exploitation. This situation feels different though. Maybe I just feel too raw to care or maybe it's because multiple people contacted me to see if buy I would be celebrating her life on canvas...I just felt like sharing. Commiserating. Appreciating. Voting.
I painted lovely Ruth in red, gold and black, because she's fiery, flashy and bold. I replaced her subtle collar with a more blatant declaration. She was painted against a grey/cream background of watered down acrylic paint on a 12" x 16" canvas. Hanging hardware attached, ready to hang and inspire.
