These are the greatest shoes! I usually don't buy buy shoes unless they're in my size in case they don't sell, but I couldn't leave these behind… They're by Margaret Jerrold and were sold by Bonwit Teller Boston. They're made of silver snakeskin - real snake with the scaly texture, but silvered. They're all leather, sole and lining.
They're in the classic late 60's mod shape - very Catherine Deneuve in Belle De Jour. The heel is low - about 1 7/8” and set far back. The toe is squared.
Each shoe features a metal coiled snake motif on the outer edge of the vamp.
These would be perfect for holiday parties!
They're a size 8a, which is narrow. The measurements are as follows:
The footbed measures 10 1/8.” The width of the sole at its widest point is 3”
They're well-loved, but still in very good cosmetic condition. There are a few minor scuffs on the toes and heels, but you have to look closely, and the scales of the snakeskin are slightly lifted in a few places, but that really just gives the surface authenticity imo. The soles and heel caps show wear, but are still solid with lots of life left in them. The finish of the sock liner has a mar in the right shoe.
They're ready to go out and have fun again!
