Handmade to exacting specification in the traditional Shaker bentwood style, this #5 fixed handle carrier is made of cherry with hand bent sides and arched round handle, custom-fitted base, and hand-carved swallowtail “fingers” with copper tacks. The paint finish is a recent recreation of old-fashioned milk paint to give it a traditional almost antiqued finish like the older boxes that were originally done using milk paint - available in red, blue or green (see my other items for each color). Finished inside and out with polycrylic varnish and a hand-rubbed light coat of furniture wax to protect to show off buy the natural beauty of the wood. Approximate finished dimensions of this carrier including handle are 9-3/4”L x 6-5/8”W x 10-1/4”H. Note: On cherry wood carriers, the wood will naturally deepen in color with age over time to a richer color than shown.
