What is fine bone china, and how is it different from porcelain?

Bone china has the greatest strength and resilience of all ceramics because of the addition of bone ash to its raw materials, which allows for greater chip resistance and durability. Bone china is smooth, opaque and bright white in appearance. Porcelain is generally heavier and more brittle than bone china, and porcelain tends to chip and crack more easily than bone china.

Care instructions: These plates are made from bone buy china and are sturdy, however they do require a bit of care in order to keep them looking perfect. We do not recommend using utensils such as a knife and fork on your plate as persistent scratching might damage the surface and detract from the beauty of the print. While these plates are dishwasher safe (low temp below 86°), we recommend gently washing them by hand.
