My story...
I am a splendid, undated edition of Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen published by Collins' Clear Type Press as part of the original Olive Classic' Series.
I am not dated but research by my seller shows I was published between 1930-1939. See link below for more details.

As I was published during the pre second world war years when rationing had started and after years of economic depression, I am becoming increasingly rare and difficult to source. If you search on Ebay or amongst booksellers you will find many examples of the later Olive Classic's versions (1951-1964) but very few, if any of us smaller and more elaborately decorated originals.
We were either produced in green or red leatherette covers and protected by a film dust jacket and hard slip case. I am a green version and amazingly my slip case is still with me and has kept me tickety boo and ship shape!
Practicalities:
-My book measures H 15cm by W 10cm approximately.
-I weigh 210g.
Condition Summary:
I am in excellent vintage condition generally with barely any signs of age and use. My book slip case is in a very respectable condition. For specific condition points see below.
Why buy me?
I am very beautiful as you will see from my olive green, leatherette covers embellished with shiny, silver, gilt, decorative titles that still gleam!
My endpapers are a soft, marble green and my page edges dyed a dark turquoise. The dyed edges look wonderful when contrasted with my creamy coloured reading pages.
At my front I have a beautiful, black and white frontispiece set opposite a simply set title page.
I am a classic little book with little pre-novel ‘fuss'. I just have a simple paragraph biography of my esteemed author, followed immediately by my wonderful story!
As I am at least 83 years old I will have some signs of age and use:
Leatherette cloth cover: excellent condition with a mild crease on the spine. Barely any wear at all.
Page edges: excellent with only minor fading towards the spine on the top edge - barely a scratch to be seen.
Endpapers: excellent generally - the tip of the top corner of the free endpapers is chipped.
Reading pages: excellent
Binding: strong and supple - the best combination.
Book slipcase: worn mildly on extremities with some minor rubs and scratches, a dark mark on the top end of the front side near the spine hinge and faded in a darkened fashion down the open edges in a strip more so on the back edge with the British Made stamp on the buy bottom.
A note from my seller:
A splendid, very green, barely aged copy of this popular tale, now rarer to find in this edition and definitely in this condition.
