This smoothing board was created with the inspiration of the original from the Orkney Isles. The original was made from whalebone and believed to be a part of a textile smoothing process to put pleats or hems on garments. The Dragon heads facing each other along with the ornamentation is very similar to the designs found on the Extant piece. ( and Yes) it really does work)

This item was created from poplar wood and was all carved and finished by hand using boiled linseed oil.
