Italian Influence, FE DVX Florentine buy Motif in Blue, on Ecru Ground, Woven Cotton Toile Style Fabric, Heavier Weight
This is unusual piece of home decor fabric and I suspect that it is actually.
buy This is unusual piece of home decor fabric and I suspect that it is actually from Italy, but it is not signed at the selvage. The letters "FE DVX" appear prominently, along with the letters F, C and D, placed in certain corners.
FE DVX is the notation for Fredericus the Duke, who resided in the Ducal Palace of Umbria, a region of central Italy. The print style is very much like a toile and this is a heavier weight than a toile, but with like fiber. In this case, either a linen or linen and cotton blend, I think. The print includes classic Florentine scrolls and feathers and a very stylized bird motif.
As to the age, I could not say, but I am guessing that this fabric is from the 1990's. It is 42" wide and there are 3 continuous yards being sold as one length.
