A stunning free-blown squat bottle in the Tortoiseshell range, designed by Michael Harris and made by Isle of Wight Studio Glass between 1973 and 1982. A heavy and simply gorgeous decorative piece. The flame pontil mark on the base, with the flame part on the left hand side, was buy used from 1974 to 1979. (see http://iowstudioglass.wikidot.com/tortoiseshell)
H = 6.5cm to neck, 9.5cm incl. stopper
Ø = 14cm (base)
Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or other flaws, just some very light scratching on the base consistent with usage/age.
NOTE:
The beautiful ball stopper has slightly different colours than the bottle. It came with the bottle, it fits perfectly, it looks original, and we think it would be really hard to find so similar a replacement for such a rare and special item. Moreover, the stoppers of some other bottles in the same range that we found on the Internet also looked slightly mismatched, so most likely the two hand crafted pieces were assembled that way by the glass studio. Yet, since despite all this we can't be 100% sure that the stopper originally belonged to this particular bottle, we are pricing the item accordingly.
