Vintage Scripto Vu-Lighter - Midcentury Swirl buy - Working Vintage Lighter

The Scripto Vu-Lighter has a very unique fuel storage mechanism. Lighter fluid is held in the clear bottom tank, easily visible so you know when you're running low. When fuel in the lighter wick starts running low, you can invert the lighter and press the button on the side to open a valve and allow the lighter fluid to buy saturate the wick and wadding up top.

They came in a variety of designs, and were often used as promotional merch for companies. The design is printed on a card that is submerged in the fluid tank. This one features a midcentury swirl in a flashy silver-gold color.

The lighter is in good working order. If kept vertical, the fluid stays in the tank with no leaks. When the lighter is inverted, the fluid may slowly seep into the wick and wadding, but does not seem to leak out. Pressing the button opens the valve to quickly allow fluid through to refill. The lighter may have originally had a gold colored plating, but most of it has worn off to reveal a silver colored base.

By buying a vintage lighter, you are committing to lowering your carbon footprint. Though they may take more maintenance than a modern disposable lighter, these lighters were meant to be used for a lifetime. They can be refilled with flint and lighter fluid time and time again, the wick and wadding can be replaced when necessary, and are eternally fixable. Buy a reusable lighter, and help cut down on the excess of plastic waste.

Lighter will ship with a flint installed, just remove the large fuel screw, add lighter fluid, and it's ready to light.
