Hard to find vintage Anchor Hocking Fire King authentic Rose-ite swirl berry bowl. Rose-ite differs from the more popular pink color also produced by Fire King. Rose-ite is pure pink glass all the way through, while pink is actually white glass with the pink color fired on. The bottom of this bowl is significantly lighter than the rim, but it is not the same as the bottom of a pink swirl piece. I added two pictures of this bowl next to a pink swirl piece to show the difference in color at the bottom and when held to the light. Rose-ite has a fire-opal glow when held directly to the light. Pink swirl does not. It is said that the reason Rose-ite had such a limited run was because it was difficult to keep the pink coloring even throughout. This is noticeable buy in the variation in pink tones throughout. It truly looks different in different lighting. I tried my best to show the color in natural light.
Although this is one of the more common Rose-ite pieces to find, it is still fairly rare as Rose-ite had a very limited production run during the 1950s. Great piece for a collector, or a nice piece to get a collection started.
Item is in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Typical manufacturer “flaws” present such as raised bubbles in the glaze and mold marks. These are common features of glassware and should not be considered damage. Some light wear from storage/age. At the bottom of the inside of the bowl, there are areas where the glaze isn't as shiny. I tried to capture in the last photo. Likely another manufacturing blip, but wanted to note that.
