Vintage Book - THE SIAMESE CAT By Leon Underwood - Book is a hardcover. Cover of book was pieced together under plastic by previous owner. Small ink mark in beginning of book. A few pencil marks and one or two pages with small piece of corner edge missing. Book pages are together but has come apart from center spine. (see photos) Pages are yellowed from age and wear. Book has beautiful, Art Deco woodcut prints that were made by the writer himself. Purchased from antique store.

Leon Underwood (1890-1975) was a brilliant artist whose work displays the influence of Vorticism, surrealism, and the African art he started collecting in the 1920s. Leon wrote several books, including a slim collection of verse, ANIMALIA (1926), a pamphlet on aesthetic theory in refutation of Herbert Read, and several monographs on primitive art.
