This is an interesting Victorian ribbon badge from a convention.
This is an interesting Victorian ribbon badge from a convention that took place in the summer of 1900. buy The International Christian Endeavor Society had it's 19th annual convention in London from July 14-18 in 1900. Delegates from around the world met and discussed how to spread the Christian faith. This badge has a brooch made of tin at the top depicting a man and a woman shaking hands and reads, "America England" and "Whitehead A Hoag Co., Newark, NJ". A patriotic red, white and blue ribbon is attached to the brooch. The left hand side is an American flag, and the right hand side is the British Union Jack flag. At the end of the ribbon a round tin piece is attached that has the Christian Endeavor "CE" symbol on the front, and "19th International Christian Endeavor Convention London, England July 14-18 1900" on the back. On the back of the ribbon is a round sticker that reads "U. S. of C. E. Tremont Temple, Boston, Mass. 155 La Salle Street, Chicago, Ill." This is a really neat collector's piece of religious memorabilia!
